King David conquers several neighboring enemies of Israel including the Philistines, the Moabites, the Ammonites, Syrians, and Edomites, peoples who are enemies of Israel to this day. “So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people” (2 Samuel 8:15 NKJV).
David takes Jonathan’s surviving son under his protection and provision: “But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the Lord’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul” (2 Samuel 21:7 NKJV).
