Dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ

For He Looked to the Reward – Hebrews 11:17-31

Today, we examine further the life and faith of Abraham who, when tested by God, showed that he was willing to sacrifice Isaac, his only heir and the son of promise, on Mount Moriah.  Because Abraham obeyed, we have a picture of what God did do when He allowed His Son Jesus to be sacrificed by those Jesus came to save on this very same mount 2,000 years later.  We see also the faith of Moses, the adopted son of Pharoah’s daughter, and Rahab, the former harlot of Jericho and second woman mentioned in Hebrews 11.  Like these heroes and heroines of faith who put their trust in the true God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, faith today may mean deprivation and sacrifice in this life but much greater rewards and living in the presence of the Object of our faith, Jesus Christ, for all eternity.  Like Moses, we esteem the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of this world, because we look forward to the reward (Hebrews 11:26).
