Forty years have passed since Moses fled Pharaoh’s palace in Egypt and settled in Arabia to tend the flock of his father-in-law Jethro. Now 80 years old and “cured” of his former spirit of independence and self-sufficiency, God now reveals Himself to Moses from the midst of a burning bush, calling him to deliver the Israelite’s from their bondage in Egypt and promising him, “I will certainly be with you” (Exodus 3:12). Pastor Kevin draws attention to the parallels in this account and the life of Jesus, reminding us that Christians are similarly called to warn of God’s coming judgment and share His message of deliverance (the gospel) to those living in our day. May we, like Moses, respond to God’s call, “Here I am” (Exodus 3:4).
