In this 7th Corona Virus lockdown virtual Bible study, Pastor Kevin continues to list the traits which typify a true Christian, as given by John the Apostle.
John teaches that a true believer keeps God’s commandments and does not hate his or her brother.
Using the Old Testament, Pastor Kevin shows that “keeping God’s commandments” does not mean that a person must never break one of God’s laws in order to be saved, but rather that when they do sin; they continue to believe that Jesus alone forgives. It is a warning to not put trust in religious practices to keep us saved. Those who do are not “keeping God’s commandments”
John also makes it clear that a true believer will not have hatred towards people. If we are possessed of God by the Holy Spirit, then we will have the love of God replacing the hatred that once ruled our lives.
