So Absalom Stole the Hearts of the Men of Israel – 2 Samuel 14:1-15:6

After Absalom had lived in Geshur for three years, Joab convinces King David to allow Absalom to return to Israel. Once back in Jerusalem, Absalom begins to undermine David’s standing with the people. “So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel” (2 Samuel 14:6b NKJV).

Pastor Kevin provides context for this account in light of Old Testament laws, including those concerning murder. We see how David’s failures to obey several of God’s laws, relying instead on his own understanding, resulted in disastrous consequences. Pastor Kevin draws parallels between Absalom and how the enemy of our souls is stealing the hearts of people today, leading them to eternal death. He warns us to humble ourselves and turn to Jesus while there is still time.
