Pastor Kevin continues our study in Hebrews, showing how Old Testament Scriptures foretold that the prophesied Messiah and the divine Son of God were the same, and that Jesus fulfilled this prophecy. Using several of these Scriptures, Chapter 1 demonstrates that Jesus is superior to the angels.
Chapter 2 begins with a warning. If the written law given through Moses brought about conviction of and judgment for sin, how much more does Jesus’ spoken Word bring about conviction and judgment for disobedience to Jesus’ call to salvation? Pastor Kevin warns us to resist the influences of the world and the devil, which cause us to take our focus off of things of God. Instead, “we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard [from Jesus], lest we drift away” (Hebrews 2:1).
