The official doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today still teaches that the principle of plural marriage has the potential to be acceptable when ordained by God, using examples like Abraham and King David in the Old Testament as evidence. These teachings are based on LDS scripture found in the book of Doctrine and Covenants, Section 132, which Joseph Smith claimed was a revelation from God to once again institute the practice of plural marriage.

The true God created us and knows our emotional makeup. His Word (the Bible) does not leave women traumatized with ‘eternal polygamy’. Only the false god, Satan, would inspire his prophets to do so. The true God makes it clear in the Holy Scriptures that heaven is not about men making spirit babies with their temple sealed wives.
Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.” Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. We should feel sorry for those who are trapped in the many lies of Mormonism and pray that their eyes will open up to see the lies, turn away from them, and come to the Biblical Jesus for true salvation.
