Based purely on his campaign promises, it almost seemed reasonable to hope that President-Elect Trump might genuinely be opposed to the Establishment—a true champion of the people rising up to challenge the Powers That Be.
Many who valiantly campaigned for Trump did so believing that he absolutely, unequivocally must be elected in order to save the Union from a DNC-contrived socialist-globalist death spiral. Conservatives and evangelicals alike vigorously defended Trump on the basis that he was a non-conformist, independent thinker who finally gave voice to the “silent man” (millions of disenfranchised or first-time voters) whom many credit for carrying him to victory.
Whether Trump’s words are as “golden” as his goose—or merely goose poop—remains to be seen. But at some point in the near future (if it hasn’t already happened by now) the “Populist President” will be shown the playbook of the Elite and told exactly what plays he can and cannot call. In exchange for allowing him to put on the uniform of President, the Powers That Be will give him certain concessions that present the appearance of his making good, while simultaneously slipping away from his spurious campaign promises.
Forgive me for being cynical; but former presidents and some of our nation’s most prominent men have repeatedly warned us of the way things really work in our nation’s Capitol. Consider the words of Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States, who more than a century ago revealed the existence of a shadowy hand which governs the land:
Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.
The real truth is, we often don’t want to acknowledge reality: That in virtually every industry and agency in America, the foxes are guarding the hen house. And unfortunately, the vaunted populist uprising which swept Trump into office is in for a rude awakening. Because the hidden hand that holds all the cards in Washington will refuse to be played by anyone—especially by a casino builder-cum-President whose real estate developments are smack in the middle of cities largely owned and operated by organized crime.
But it’s far more pleasant to live in denial of “outrageous conspiracy theories” (quoting George W. Bush, disparaging alternative analyses of the events of 9/11) — and to believe that our government or chosen political party not only has everything under control, but has our personal best interests in mind. But unless we set aside what our school textbooks and TVs tell us about U.S. history, and begin to do our own research, we’ll remain deceived about how and why we’ve lost our country. Consider this explanation by a former mayor of Trump’s hometown:
“The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government, which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation… The little coterie of powerful international bankers virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes. They practically control both parties, … and control the majority of the newspapers and magazines in this country. They use the columns of these papers to club into submission or drive out of office public officials who refuse to do the bidding of the powerful corrupt cliques which compose the invisible government. It operates under cover of a self-created screen [and] seizes our executive officers, legislative bodies, schools, courts, newspapers and every agency created for the public protection.” —New York City Mayor John F. Hylan, New York Times, March 26, 1922
Again, if this were true in 1922, then how in the name of all that is good and decent are we to expect a “free press” to operate today? The truth is that the “freedom of the press” (which was once protected by hundreds of independent print and broadcast companies) is now entirely monopolized by a cartel of six multinational media conglomerates who together control better than 90% of the media in America. Post-election, this explains the increasing assault on “fake news” websites (independent internet-based reporting and analysis) by the media establishment that seeks to stifle
